For some the New Year starts with a BANG! Resolutions, new projects, big ideas are heaped up, sorted and then worked upon. My 2018 has been very, very slow. Too many commitments in the fall and around the holidays left me exhausted. (Yes, I've already removed several from next fall's schedule.) Then I caught "THE COLD" !! This debilitating malady is running rampant through Portland and totally fries its victims - some worse than others. Coughing and feeling too tired to do much of anything (and I had SO many plans) makes me grumpy. Slowly, but surely, I'm on
the mend . . .
Today I've been creating manuals for the returning and new Portland Open Studios Board
members. 2018 is our 20th year and we have some exciting ideas / events planned. The Tour takes place in October - the weekends of the 13/14 and 20/21. It seems like a long time from now, but experience tells me it's right around the corner. The Call To Artists opened Monday, January 15 and runs to 12am, March 9th (mountain time).
Despite my malaise and grouchy behavior I've managed to create some art - House Cats / encaustic photo collage, 10 x 10 x 1 - I've entered it in a show, It's Raining Cats and Dogs, an independent event supported by the goals and vision of AIR Gallery artists, which opens in March at P'5 Centers for the Arts.
Ancient Patterns - Encaustic photo collage, 12 x 16 x 2 is entered as well. Unfortunately my third work was not completed in time to meet the jury deadline. But here's a detail, it's the largest piece, measuring 16 x 20 x 2. Jury notification is January 20 - fingers crossed. :)
