Where did this month go? One minute we're celebrating New Years and now we're about to slide into February. Way too fast for me. The work below is titled "In Her Own Company, She Is Always Enough." This along with 19 other collages (both fabric and encaustic) are presently on view at Maude Kerns Art Center in Eugene through February 8. The show is called Homage and also features wonderful painted portraits by Rachel Marcotte and Brooke Stone. Having nearly recovered from the frenzy of creating work for this exhibition, I'm now on to the next show with will be in March. For some the New Year starts with a BANG! Resolutions, new projects, big ideas are heaped up, sorted and then worked upon. My 2018 has been very, very slow. Too many commitments in the fall and around the holidays left me exhausted. (Yes, I've already removed several from next fall's schedule.) Then I caught "THE COLD" !! This debilitating malady is running rampant through Portland and totally fries its victims - some worse than others. Coughing and feeling too tired to do much of anything (and I had SO many plans) makes me grumpy. Slowly, but surely, I'm on

Things are never as easy as they appear, either on TV or YouTube videos. I've been working on this website for several days and just when I think it's ready to launch ...

I find a typo or the wording isn't consistent or, or, or. It's exciting and a bit frustrating when learning a new skill, be it a physical challenge (yoga) or a mental one (a new computer platform). Being a beginner stinks and I suppose that's the beauty of the lesson. Feeling OK with not knowing exactly what I'm doing.

So glad that my pal Leah shared her knowledge and good humor with me as I embark on the road of beginning again...
